Prayer is right at the very heart of our link with Sudan. One of the first things that we are asked for in any situation are prayers. Prayers are given in exchange in a true spirit of fellowship.
We operate a diocesan-wide prayer network which works via e-mail. Regular monthly prayer requests are sent to anyone who would like to receive them. If you would like to join our prayer network or log a prayer request, contact the prayer co-ordinator by e-mailing sudan.prayer@salisbury.anglican.org

Harvest Prayer Needs
I write for people to pray for us. For this please accept our heartfelt gratitude. Please pray for us because we anticipate famine this year 2010 just because rains started late in May instead of the usual beginning of rains in late February every year.
By this time our people would have reaped their first harvest. Pray that the second rainy season which started late in May will last for us to harvest in September otherwise there will be famine and probable migration despite last year’s famine.

The issue of peace in Sudan is paramount. Please continue to pray for peace in Southern Sudan. As you may have heard one SPLA Commander namely the George Athor contested the Post of Governor in Jongulei State during the April elections. After losing the elections to the incumbent Governor he decided to launch an attack on the SPLA military barrack killing several soldiers. He is still in the bush and has been attacking the SPLA or SPLA have been attacking him as he claims. We don't even know who is saying the truth and who is not.The UN MIssion in Sudan UNMIS is trying to mediate a peaceful solution to this conflict. Please pray for this need. - +Moses Deng - Diocese of Wau.
A Prayer from sudan
Sudan as a nation yearns for peace, unity, strength and wisdom to be patient with each other, encourage each other, forgive and forget about the past and unanimously focus on the growth of the nation. Amen
Below is the prayer for Sudan, a copy of which is kept in every church in the Diocese. .
A Prayer for the Sudan
God our Father,
whose son Jesus Christ wept over your people who knew not the way of peace,
and were as sheep without a shepherd,
hear our prayer for the people of the Sudan.
Turn the hearts of their leaders to reconciliation and peace.
Bless their Archbishop and clergy, that they may be true shepherds of your flock.
Strengthen those who heal the wounded and feed the hungry.
Hasten the time when all nations will own your just and gentle rule and receive your gift of peace, in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Church in The Sudan
Please pray for our Brothers and Sisters in Christ in Sudan. As the peace
agreement continues to be implemented, and the danger grows of old
animosities between them resurfacing, may they come together and live in
peace with a spirit of love and forgiveness prevailing over any feelings of
intolerance and revenge for perceived past injustices. May peace,
understanding and tolerance extend also to relations between north and south
Sudan.
And please pray for all those involved in the development of the Sudan in
any form that the needs of the Sudanese people are put before self interest
and self advancement.
Lord, let your blessings fall on all your faithful people in Sudan and may
their example of faithfulness inspire us to serve them more and follow you
more closely.
